I see many signs of spring. My garden has become colourful with daffodils, crocuses and snowdrops.
My apple twig looks very much like it was 6 weeks ago, so I’ll keep watching it.
What signs of spring have you seen?
Do you have a veggie and/or a flower garden?
Last year Ben and his family at Messy Church were looking to start a garden. How did it work out?
Plant a seed: Bigger seeds are easier for very small hands.
Work outside or put down some newspaper to keep the kitchen surface clean.
- Hold your seed in your hand and look at it, feel the surface. It will be dry and it looks dead.
- Plant it in a pot with soil then cover the seed.
- Water to dampen the soil, but don’t flood it.
- Place it on a saucer to catch the drips.
- Place it on a windowsill and water every day.
We can plant seeds and water them, and then we watch and wait for the miracle of the dry seed turning into a plant.
Watch it grow – first a stem, then leaves followed by flower buds.
Thank you, God, for your amazing world.
Help us to stop and look at the plants around us that are waking up with the warmth of the sun.
Thank you that you love each of us.
Help us to share your love with others by smiles, kind words……….
All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful, .
‘Twas God that made them all.
Each little flower that opens,
Each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colour,
He made their tiny wings.
The purple headed mountains,
The river running by,
The sunset and the morning
That brightens up the sky.
The cold wind in the winter,
The pleasant summer sun,
The ripe fruits in the garden,
He made them every one.
He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell,
How great is the Almighty,
Who has made all things well.
